Camp Good News – Middle School

Every year CEF® hosts 2 summer camps at the end of the year. First up was Elementary camp, but from August 11 to August 15 it was time for Middle School camp. The summer missionary around Iowa come to be counselor or support staff.

It shared the same theme with Elementary camp of that everything is GIANT. They learned that our God is bigger than any of our fears, problems, etc. Since it was the 10th anniversary of camp, the campers did activities from each year. Such as Avengers human clue and a photo scavenger hunt. Many of the campers have been to camp for many years and remembered these activities and were excited to see if their previous favorite activity will make it.

Each day had two chapel times. These chapel times started out with 2 or 3 songs of praise and worship. Then afterwards the children would have a taught by our guest speakers Josh and Beth. Beth is a former summer missionary!  The children learned about many Bible characters such as Jesus and Peter.

Children also had rec and free time. During this time there were many activities around the camp ground such as a zipline, Gaga ball (which many times was made muddy!), the pool, and many others.

Each year there is a banquet with a surprise theme. All the campers dress up in their fancy clothes while all the counselors get in costumes that fit the theme. The cafeteria is also decorated according to the theme. The campers are always excited to see what their counselors will dress up and what the theme is. This years theme was Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs!
